Keytoe providing vision

Beware! This blog is in English for a change. Have fun.

Break stuff

Breaking boundaries – that’s what we are doing at Keytoe. Boundaries that restrict us personally or organizational boundaries that limit growth – doesn’t really matter, we want to break them.

However during the Keytoe ski vacation “Skitoe” Cedric took this message a bit to literally and out of breaking boundaries came breaking glasses … my glasses. In a bulk of excitement, I suddenly had Cedric’s hand, a lot of snow, and less glasses on my face. The glasses dropped, someone stepped on it. Aaaaand I’m blind.

The following week I walked around with glasses fixed by patch and tesa-tape. Thanks to the solid tape and Cedric’s unexpected fixing skills I got through the week without further problems. Nevertheless, the glasses where screwed. Broken by Skitoe.

Back to work

A week later, back at Keytoe Maassluis, I had a meeting with Cedric. A follow-up meeting to his personal ‘Why’. So I’m casually walking to the meeting room with my taped glasses where Cedric was already waiting. Not a minute inside we already walked outside again because there was a surprise waiting for me. He told me that he didn’t want to talk about his Why and rather wanted to show it to me. We not only left the meeting room, but went outside the building alongside the Zuidvliet of Maassluis. At that moment I was slightly afraid that Cedric would send me, ‘the German’, immer gerade aus straight into to the grachten van Maassluis … luckily it didn’t happen.

Surprise, surprise!

Instead, the final location of this meeting was 50 meters further at the local optician “Optiek Swemmer”. At that moment even I got it: Ho eens! Cedric is getting me new glasses! And fancy ones too, which actually was the ground condition: “You have to choose fancy glasses otherwise I won’t pay them”. Seemed like a fair deal to me and within the hour, I got new glasses, got a seeing test and we actually finished the necessary points of the meeting. So not only did I get my glasses, but Cedric got his How’s to his Why. Efficiency to the max! And huge props to Optiek Swemmer who finished my glasses within 1 day! Maassluis is gewoon aan!

I can see clearly now…

To round this whole story off I would say: Skitoe broke my glasses, but Keytoe literally provided me with a new vision. However, the vision is really not restricted to the glasses. Having a meeting with such a surprise really gave me a new way of looking at things. It broke my boundaries in how I see work and how it should be done. I see it as a metaphor for Keytoe.

Keytoe not only breaks boundaries, but it also provides you with a better alternative. Breaking your old glasses and giving you fancy ones back. Providing you with a clear vision which motivates you to go harder!
